Queensland
Tropical Queensland is paradise at its finest. The small town of Cairns is gateway to two great and iconic natural wonders- on the water, the vibrant and elegant Great Barrier Reef; inland, the ancient and awe-inspiring Daintree Rainforest. Both classified as natural world heritage sites, they showcase the immense beauty and delicate fragility of the unique ecosystems within. In less technical terms- you'll be blown away by hundreds of schools of fish, unique bird songs, massive crocs, and enchanting blue waters. My advice? Immerse yourself completely in it all and be bold. Scuba dive. Jump in jungle lagoons. In a world where these natural beauties are disappearing more and more, go cherish it all.

The Best Of Queensland-
Great Barrier Reef
Few things are as deserving of the title "Great" as this natural wonder. Sail out onto bright turquoise water as far as the eye can see, strap on some swim gear, and dive into the great beyond. Under the surface, every color of coral pops out as fish of every kind dart around the reef. If you're lucky you may even spot a turtle!

Daintree Rainforest
The world's oldest rainforest comes alive with the sun bouncing off the leaves of the canopy and the calls of birds ringing through your ears.
Ferns decorate the lush forest floor, serene waterfalls spill into relaxing pools, and massive crocs lay in the river.

Fitzroy Island
Off the mainland, hundred of islands lay within reach of a simple boat trip, and Fitzroy is among the best. With the reef close enough you can get to it with a single breath, enjoy snorkeling, boating, or simply floating in the warm waters. On land, enjoy a good meal, a nice hike, and a leisurely stroll on the sand.

Wildlife
Whether rainforest or reef, Queensland is full of wildlife everywhere you look. Elusive cassowaries, stinging jellies (which I thankfully didn't encounter), prehistoric saltwater crocodiles, gorgeous schools of fish... and so much more await in these wild places.

Memories
01.
Scuba Diving the Reef
Pictures do not nearly do justice in captivating the delicate beauty that is the reef. Coral sculpted in uniquely perfect designs, hundreds of fish of every size, shape, and color gliding by, each moment coming across some new and wonderous sight. The feeling of awe with every paddle taking you further into the blue, your eyes dart around just as much the schools of fish that call this majestic place home. I can't overstate how impactful scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef really is, and it's absolutely up there at the top of my most surreal life experiences.

03.
Fitzroy Island
Queensland is home to many tropical islands, and a short ferry to Fitzroy made a perfect day trip. Home to the incredible Nudey Beach, kick back and relax as the waves crash upon the shore, or, swim out just a couple feet and explore the reef right within snorkeling reach. On the other side of the island, venture through the rainforest trails and up the mountainside to get an absolutely gobsmacking view of tropical paradise.

02.
Road Trip with Wyllie
Crocodile Dundee may be a fictional character, but Wyllie is about as close as they get to the essence that is Aussie charm and craze. Roadtripping through the Daintree Rainforest with a guide such as him is as uniquely Aussie an experience as vegemite. On the road, enjoy frequent scenic stops to swim in the jungle, sample fruity ice creams, and partake in gobsmacking sunset views. Plus, as you trek through the ancient rainforest, keep your eyes peeled for modern day dinosaurs- cassowaries, crocodiles, and massive spiders that only men such as Wyllie dare to play with.
