New York City
I really forget sometimes how incredibly lucky I am to live only 3 hours from a city so renowned as New York. As a kid, I never took any particular delight in the occasional trip to the city, thinking it's dirty, mean, expensive, and boring. Luckily, I came to realize just how special of a place this is. There's hidden gems everywhere, countless people who make the trip always worth it, so much to do and see and partake in no matter what you do. In every sense, it's the city of all cities. And although I wouldn't want to live much closer, I'm so glad I get to enjoy New York for what it is when I'm fortunate enough to go.
Highlights
The Best Of New York-
Food
ALWAYS stop at Schmackary's- they have the BEST cookies
Also I'm not one of those "New York pizza is the only pizza" kind of guys but it's definitely in a league of its own.
Same applies for bagels.

At Night
Night New York is so much different from day New York and it's chaotic but beautiful. Check out all the lit up spots around Broadway, the popping Times Square, or just wander the city aimlessly.

Christmas Time
Rockefeller Center is the big attraction (and it's definitely worth fighting through the crowds to see), but the whole city is full of Christmas spirit. Also stop by Central Park's rink, or lesser known Bryant Park.

Bucket List Cross Off
Have done: See a Broadway Show (Wicked)
Have yet to do: See the Statue of Liberty (up close)

Memories
01.
Broadway with Shelby
Cheap Broadway tickets and a break from college meant a once in a lifetime opportunity to hit up the big city with my sister. Admittedly, this was my first time going to the city without a 'grown-up', and I made some pretty stupid mistakes along the way (paying $20 to get my picture with Elmo, wearing a purple Hawaiian shirt and talking to everyone that complimented it and then tried to sell me stuff...). But, we had such a blast and this was definitely one of my favorite memories with Shelby.

03.
Christmas in New York with the mates
Getting the chance to meet up with my college mates in New York was quite a stroke of luck- everything happened very last minute- but sometimes that's how the best stories come to be. Aside from seeing all the incredible sights (cannot overstate how gorgeous Christmas in New York is), I got to stroll the streets of Manhattan with my friends, catch up on life, and even play Smash Bros in a bar (yeah we're... interesting).

02.
Dad's Birthday
There's been several family city trips through the years, and whenever we've gone we've always found something new and exciting to do. Whether walking The High Line along New York's westside, exploring Central Park in the fall, or doing family photos with the Brooklyn Bridge and lower Manhattan as the backdrop, we've always managed to have a great time doing it. But the most memorable part of one particular trip? The Chicken Parm wrap...
