Maine
Maine has always been my family's get-away spot for summer vacation, and every time I go I get a sense of nostalgia that reminds me of the good ol' days. With the cold ocean wind blowing on your face, there's a ton to explore from the cove to beaches. Not to mention, all the amazing food along the way. Fried dough from the amusement park. Grilled sandwiches and candy from Goldenrod. The captivating smell of lobster and haddock fresh from the sea. Maine is full of simple pleasures, and for that reason, it holds the most special of places in my heart.

The Best Of Maine-
Childhood Memory
As a kid, the four of us would rent a house for a week- some nicer than others, but my favorite was right on the coast, surrounded by beautiful gardens. From the yard, there were a number of rocks childhood Jon loved to climb across to get as close to the water's edge as possible.

Family Tradition
Getting the whole extended family together- cousins and all- made a day at the beach certainly busy. My uncle taught us all how to "boogie board", and we'd ride through the chilly waves for hours at a time and competing to see who got the best wave.

On the Water
*Setting sail from Perkin's Cove on a janky lobster boat or elegant sailboat (both worth it)
*Beach day shenanigans- even if the water is freezing
*Walks along the scenic Marginal Way (and climbing the forbidden rocks)

Seafood
There's a whole host of options for seafood on the coast- but among delicious fish & chips, crunchy breaded shrimp and clams, one dish reigns supreme- lobster.
Throw it in a mac and cheese, mix it up in a lobster bisque, or, just eat as is.

York Beach
*Stroll across the sand and water at Short or Long Sands
*Ride the Ferris wheel at York's Wild Kingdom
*Enjoy all the food you can eat- candy shops, fried takeout, ice cream, or luxury meals

Dessert
*Dunne's Ice Cream- possibly some of the richest ice cream I've ever had
*Fried Dough from York's Wild Kingdom
*Pretty much anything at Goldenrod- it's all good

Rainy Day
There's no such thing as a bad day on vacation. Take the opportunity to visit some new restaurants, visit a distillery, or hit up the arcade/bowling.

Bucket List Cross Off
Have done: Go Lobster-Boat fishing (not exactly bucket-list worthy, but who cares?)
Want to do: See a wild Moose
