Connecticut-Rhode Island
There's nothing like a good roadtrip down to the coast. While there's a lot of appeal to the "big" states and their coastal hotspots- Long Island, Cape Cod, Maine- there's a lot that can be packed into the smaller ones as well. In the limited time I've spent in Connecticut and Rhode Island, I've explored cozy towns, top-notch aquariums and zoos, eaten a LOT of good food (which might give the rest of New England a run for its money), and all in all, taken two perhaps overlooked destinations and turned them in to life-long memories.

I really only went to Roger Williams Zoo and the park, but highly recommend both.

Memories
01.
Mystic with Pappy
The 5th grade field trip down to the aquarium is neat and all, everyone packed in tight as sardines on a bus, but going back as an adult is infinitely more satisfying. Planning the trip the way you want- everything from the road-trip playlist to the food hotspots ranging from quality tavern burgers to Chic-fil-A... and the best part, experiencing it with your grandfather and making memories that last a lifetime.

Selfie with an Elephant
Roger Williams Park Zoo on a cloudy, off-peak day is easily one of the peak zoo experiences I've had. Watching the cheetahs play, listening to eagles call, eating leftover wraps... I easily enjoyed myself as I leisurely strolled through the zoo making my way from exhibit to exhibit. But, if you know me, you know I've got one animal perpetually at the top of my list- the elephants. And spending probably a good hour watching the elephants, taking photos, and a selfie or two, easily was the highlight of a day at the zoo.

The Breakers
Everyone loves a nice Cliff Walk on the ocean, but the walk in Newport certainly is among the most beautiful. The rich and luxurious mansions are certainly one of the biggest appeals, but aside from letting you get close to splendor, you also have the chance to get close to the ocean- really close. I wasn't quite sure why The Breakers were called so until I noticed how the waves rush onto the path and drench anyone in its path. Needless to say, I got very much soaked in my attempt to take the perfect pictures.
